I've dabbled in the meaning + imagery of the hoop + the Native American hoop dance inparticular as a bit of a side project for a few years. But I’ve recently had my interest in it reinvigorated + recharged! This may be in part beacause I've made the decision this year to move away from focussing solely on children's art. The last few months have had all the feels; all the shades .. It can be super challenging to remain creative and optimistic in a rough season, especially when you can be a bit of a sensitive human. But when you can it's awesome. Claim those moments I say. We had to move and bought a wee house in a whole new area and although not without aaargh moments we were really blessed during that time. #sideproject : ) Stemming from my exploration of the hoop theme... the hoop dance, cycles, seasons, tension, struggle, beauty, nature.. such a simple but powerful symbol in so many cultures. Up until now I have mainly drawn and painted more literal personal interpretations.. figures and imagery that show specific cultural and ancestral connotations.
